About Naya Tapper

Hi. My name is Naya Tapper! I am a professional women's rugby player for the USA Women's Eagles Sevens team. I am originally from South Carolina, and attended college at The University of North Carolina, where I graduated in 2016.  I began my rugby career playing for UNC in 2012.  I began playing for the Eagles since 2016.  I currently reside in Chula Vista California, where I train at the Olympic Training Center. For the 2018-2019 season, the Eagles qualified for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, which I will be competing in beginning at the end of July. The Eagles placed second for the year long tournament among our international peers. In the final leg of the tournament, in Biarritz France, we took home the gold medal for that leg of the tournament, beating the New Zealand Black Ferns in the gold medal match. At the moment, we are number 1 in the world after our first tournament of the season in Colorado. I currently hold the title of All Time Leading Try Scorer for the Women's Eagles Sevens Team, with 80 tries in my career.
