Overview

Black Girls Talk Sports is a podcast where women of color discuss all things sports, including but not limited to amateur and professional football, basketball and baseball.

Why I created this podcast?

Growing up I loved and followed football, basketball, and baseball. I knew what was going on; I could call players by name; and could rattle off some stats. I enjoyed watching Doug Flutie, Joe Montana, Magic Johnson, Dr. J., Kareem, Steve Garvey, Ozzie Smith, and so on. I also I wanted to become - among many things - the first female newscaster for the National Football League. Keep in mind, the only sports that I played were kickball, dodgeball, and powderpuff football. Fast forward, life happened and here I am. I’m not an expert, but I have an opinion and I’m sure other women do too. I hope to learn something new and expand my horizon. Plus, I can always research something that I don’t know and engage in a meaningful conversation with you.

Another reason why I created Black Girls Talk Sports podcast was to give women a safe space to discuss sports without male intrusion. This does not mean that I won’t interview men for the podcast. It just means: You will hear me most weeks along with other women of color – some you might know and others you might not. No, I don’t discriminate against other women. They are welcome here as well – just know it will be predominately women of color.

Favorite Teams

I’m from Indiana; I like the Colts and Pacers. I graduated from Indiana University, so I’m a fan of IU basketball too. I went there during the Bobby Knight era. Therefore, I will seem bias. I will, however, show respect for your team, even if it’s the Cleveland Browns.

Love the first episode and your Super Bowl predictions are good ones. If Earl Thomas and Thomas Rawls from the Seahawks weren't hurt I would predict the Seahawks and the Steelers based on what I've seen this season. We shall see.
