Hosts Rekaya Gibson and Angela Spears chat with special guest Tonia Walker who was recently named the Athletic Director (AD) at Bluefield College. She is the first female athletic director and the college’s first full-time athletic director. They discuss her career in athletics and share her vision as the AD. She also gives her prediction for the NBA Championship.



About Tonia Walker

Tonia Walker completed her 4th year as Director of Athletics and her 18th season at Winston-Salem State University Department of Athletics. Her competitive excellence guided the Rams to 8 NCAA Division II tournament appearances, 15 CIAA Championships Titles, 9 CIAA Divisional Titles and eight Coach of the Year honors. Under Walker’s leadership, she was able to raise in excess of $1.5 M for program operations. Additionally, she was successful in spearheading a partnership with Modern Automotive as the exclusive automobile sponsor. She currently serves as a board member for Women Leaders in College Sports and the Chair of the Western Triad Region Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Walker graduated with a master’s degree from Old Dominion University in Recreation and Sports Administration. Walker will begin her leadership of Bluefield College Athletics on July 1, 2019.
